Position: Principal Installation Engineer
We are seeking a Principal Installation Engineer to join our client's 'Installation and Project Engineering' team on a Staff basis. You will represent the discipline in tenders and projects, providing technical expertise and developing new capabilities. Your responsibilities will include leading the installation of subsea structures, mooring systems, risers systems, flexible flowlines, and umbilicals. You will prepare scopes, support offshore operations, and liaise with clients, suppliers, offshore crews, and design teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead installation work packages during Tenders, FEED, or Projects.
- Deliver scopes within budget, quality, and schedule.
- Manage scope changes both technically and commercially.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers.
- Serve as a technical contact for installation topics.
- Manage interfaces with stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ensure high-quality documentation for tenders, FEEDs, and projects.
- Lead engineering activities related to product installation.
- Develop procedures, task plans, and calculations (e.g., lifting slings).
- Support vessel mobilization and installation phases.
- Ensure compliance with project standards in quality, cost, and time.
- Possibly act as Technical Owner for specific products or services.
- Validate concepts and manage changes considering HSEQ criteria.
- Participate in discipline development and mentor junior engineers.
- Promote technical expertise and contribute to standards and guidelines.
- Propose innovative, cost-effective solutions.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily based in Sutton office (not remote).
- International travel required.
- Occasional offshore or off-site support during projects.
Desired Experience:
You should demonstrate:
- A Master of Engineering degree and relevant energy sector experience.
- Extensive offshore/subsea installation experience.
- Expertise in two or more of the following areas: Hook-ups/Pull-in’s, Flexible Flowlines, Umbilicals/Flying Leads, Mooring Installation.
- Experience in deep/ultradeep water construction.
- Experience with tenders and projects, including project or contractual management.
- Operational documentation development skills.
- High-level offshore operational experience.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks.
- Leadership experience in team coordination.
- Ability to adapt to diverse working cultures.
