Job summary

RGB, based in Wigan, is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to lead multi-project infrastructure schemes from a Wigan base. You will drive technical direction, manage budgets and deadlines, and maintain strong relationships with clients and approving authorities.

With 5–10+ years in a consultancy, you will have a Civil Engineering degree and hands-on experience in highway design, drainage, and SuDS, using AutoCAD, PDS, Civil3D, MicroDrainage or Flow.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in a consultancy role.
• Degree in Civil Engineering (or related).
• Strong knowledge of highway design and ground modelling.
• Drainage design and hydraulic modelling including SuDS.
• Experience with AutoCAD, PDS, Civil3D, MicroDrainage or Flow.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple infrastructure design schemes ensuring technical excellence and commercial awareness.
• Provide strategic technical direction and maintain client/authority relationships.
• Negotiate approvals for adoptable works (S104, S38, S278).
• Oversee highway and drainage strategies; deliver high-quality outputs.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate internal design teams.
