Job summary

Snc-Lavalin seeks a Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer to lead dam and reservoir projects in the UK, delivering safe, resilient water infrastructure. You will guide technical work, manage multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients to ensure successful outcomes across feasibility, design and construction phases.

The role emphasizes design, assessment and rehabilitation of earth embankment dams, with dam safety, risk management and mentoring of engineers at all levels as core duties.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised professional institution.
• Extensive experience in geotechnical consultancy or major infrastructure delivery.
• Proven experience in the design, assessment and rehabilitation of earth dams, reservoirs and flood defences.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and technically complex projects.
• Excellent report writing, client management and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical and dam projects from concept to construction support.
• Review ground investigation data and instrumentation records.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations and design documents.
• Mentor junior staff and support business growth.
• Support quality assurance and project delivery in a multidisciplinary team.
• Advance dam safety reviews and risk assessments.
