Job summary

Amentum is expanding its UK Ground Engineering capability, offering a leadership role for a Principal/Technical Director Geotechnical Design Engineer. You will drive complex projects across defence, energy and critical infrastructure, leveraging advanced numerical modelling and strong client relationships.

The role requires Chartered status, MSc in geotechnical engineering, and extensive consultancy experience, with hybrid working from London/UK locations preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with MSc or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent qualification.
• Significant geotechnical design consultancy and delivery experience.
• Strong numerical modelling using PLAXIS or FLAC.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical design and technical delivery from concept to construction support.
• Direct advanced numerical modelling analyses using PLAXIS FLAC or similar.
• Deliver geotechnical assessments for foundations, earthworks and soil-structure problems.
• Review ground investigation data to develop robust design solutions.
• Collaborate with structural, seismic, nuclear and environmental specialists.
