Job summary

Stirling Dynamics is seeking a Principal FPGA Design and Development Engineer to own FPGA development for high-integrity aerospace systems. The role encompasses architectural definition, detailed RTL in VHDL, and rigorous verification across the lifecycle, including DO-254 compliance.

Based in Bristol with hybrid working options, you will lead design activities, collaborate across disciplines, and help shape engineering practices in a small, agile team while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong VHDL design capability with RTL design experience.
• Experience with DO-254 processes and artefacts for safety-critical hardware.
• Ability to work with diverse engineering teams and document design evidence.
• Experience with requirement-based verification strategies and formal methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead FPGA architectural definition and HDL design activities using VHDL.
• Develop requirement-based FPGA designs with traceability from system to low-level requirements.
• Produce and maintain FPGA design documentation and review evidence.
• Support DO-254 planning, design, review and verification for complex hardware.
• Collaborate with systems, safety, software, test and certification engineers to ensure proper integration.
