Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Manchester is seeking a Principal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant to lead flood risk assessments, hydrological studies and modelling projects from a Manchester base.

You will oversee model development, calibrations and delivery while guiding a regional water team, liaising with regulators and clients. This role combines technical leadership with commercial responsibility.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in flood risk and hydraulic modelling.
• Proven project leadership and budget management experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Chartered or working toward chartership desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead Flood Risk Assessments and hydraulic modelling studies.
• Undertake hydrological assessments using FEH, ReFH2 and WINFAP.
• Build and manage models using HEC RAS, TUFLOW or Flood Modeller.
• Liaise with regulators, clients and design teams.
• Support fee proposals and mentor junior consultants.
