Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a leading consultancy to recruit a Principal Flood Risk Consultant based in Birmingham. You will lead flood risk management projects across the UK, specialising in hydraulic modelling and GIS, while mentoring junior staff and ensuring quality assurance.

You will engage with clients in sectors such as aviation, defense, and water, oversee technical work in 1D-2D modelling, coordinate tendering, and contribute to business development.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in flood risk analysis and project delivery.
• Proficient in 1D/2D modelling using InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, Flood Modeller.
• Strong GIS skills: ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo.
• Leadership experience in developing technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical work in hydraulic modelling, hydrology, and GIS.
• Mentor and guide junior staff in flood risk management.
• Ensure quality assurance for technical deliverables.
• Develop and test project solutions for flood mitigation.
• Manage and supervise junior resources.
• Support project managers with financial and change control.
• Engage in business development activities, including tendering and client engagement.
