Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Hydraulic / Flood Risk Modeller to join our Sustainable Water Management Team in Manchester. You will contribute to a national programme of flood risk work across government, water, transport and energy sectors, taking on a technical role that shapes project direction and helps develop our national hydraulic modelling capability.

You will lead modelling studies, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and engage with clients and regulators to deliver

Qualifications

• Strong track record in fluvial and pluvial hydraulic modelling.
• Experience leading modelling studies and reviewing models for statutory bodies.
• Commercial awareness including project management and bid support.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in infrastructure, local authority or national government projects.
• Strong communication skills; ability to build trusted client relationships.
• Chartered status or close to achievement.
• GIS, FCERM studies, Flood Risk Assessments, flood policy knowledge and UK flood estimation methods are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for flood modelling using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC‑RAS or Infoworks ICM.
• Coordinate and manage flood modelling studies and develop appropriate modelling approaches.
• Review hydraulic models and ensure technical quality.
• Prepare clear technical reports, presentations and project deliverables.
• Lead or support proposal writing, opportunity identification and business development.
• Liaise with clients, regulators and other stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
