JOB TITLE: Principal Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant

Our client is a leading global business and one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing multi-disciplinary consultancies, renowned for their broad capabilities. They have an exciting opportunity for a Principal or Associate Flood Risk Consultant to join their flood risk and drainage team, based in one of the specified offices. The role offers flexible hybrid working arrangements to support a good work/life balance.
The team handles a variety of major infrastructure projects for both private and public sectors across different development areas.
The successful candidate will lead projects and proposals supporting planning applications, including flood risk assessments, due diligence, drainage strategies, drainage design and modelling, environmental water assessments, and inputs into Environmental Impact Assessments. Projects can be UK-wide, ranging from £2k to £100M, covering sectors such as defence, transport, local government, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, and residential development.
You will work independently and proactively from project inception through to delivery, collaborating with senior colleagues. Responsibilities include supporting project managers, managing low-risk projects, and client-facing roles to develop your career. Mentoring junior staff and working with clients to ensure project delivery within time and budget are also key aspects.
Candidates should demonstrate:
Educational requirements include a degree in a relevant field and chartered status with CIWEM or equivalent. Essential qualities include strong interpersonal and communication skills, independence, collaboration, and a commitment to health and safety. The candidate should be enthusiastic, flexible, a team player, and eager to support junior team members. A full UK driving license and a desire for professional growth are also essential.
