R3's Professional Services team works to bring Corda specialist expertise to our customers to make their adoption successful. We engage directly with our customers to design, build, deploy, and advise them on their Corda journey to ensure long-term capabilities are sustained. Through business consulting, technical solutions, and implementation, we help customers achieve their goals most effectively for their business, owning projects ranging from small design POCs to full end-to-end implementations for Digital Currencies and Digital Assets in real-world problems.

In addition to working directly with our customers, we strive to collaborate internally with our Sales, Engineering, and Product organizations to provide better tooling, services, and products based on our customer's evolving needs.

Your mission as a Professional Services Principal Architect

is to oversee and ensure the technical excellence of our customer solutions built on R3’s distributed ledger platform (Corda Enterprise) and our Digital Currency and Digital Asset Product line. This role combines hands-on architecture craftsmanship and an advisory role depending on the client set covered.

Your Responsibilities:

1. Create high-level enterprise diagrams for Customer Solutions using our internal products, covering architecture, cloud, infrastructure, front-end, backend, and deployments. Work with various teams to describe the overall solution delivered to the customer and adapt it based on their preferences.
2. Lead technical design workshops with customers or internal groups to maintain a competitive advantage on the quality of products developed using R3 solutions.
3. Understand customer sectors and lead/manage a program to generate design templates using R3 products.
4. Review target product and infrastructure architecture and lead design documents to support successful build phases within project timelines.
5. Provide technical vision and leadership in developing solutions with in-house, partner, or customer development teams using Java/Kotlin and R3 technologies.
6. Train and mentor internal and external groups on advanced or research DLT/blockchain topics.
7. Guide customers in their journey to production, advising on infosec, non-functional requirements, performance testing, and disaster recovery.
8. Manage technical blockers and production issues effectively.

Your Skills & Experience:

1. Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end process across solution streams.
2. Management of all technological risks.
3. Expertise in security and infrastructure design.
4. Experience in a consulting/architecture role within a software and/or professional services company.
5. Proven leadership in senior technical design discussions.
6. High proficiency in Java or JVM-based language development tasks.
7. Strong experience in cloud-native deployment design, provisioning, and orchestration.
8. Technical aptitude to learn advanced or research technology solutions.
9. Experience managing multiple stakeholder groups on project delivery or incidents.
10. Experience in finance sectors such as financial market infrastructure or buy/sell-side financial services is advantageous.
11. Breadth of knowledge in technical and business areas.
