Job summary

Murphy Applied Engineering in Warrington is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead Temporary Works schemes across Transport & Construction projects. You will be the main design contact, overseeing deliverables and costs, and mentoring staff within a collaborative engineering team.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and Chartered status, with strong design, analysis and financial management skills. You will contribute to department growth and work with senior leaders to deliver safe,

Qualifications

• HND/Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Designer with ability to manage projects from design and cost perspectives.
• Experience of effective financial management and control of projects.
• Strong analysis and design skills with ability to interpret design requirements.
• Open-minded approach to solving civil and structural engineering challenges.
• Preferably Chartered with ICE and/or IStructE.

Responsibilities

• Be the single point of contact to multiple projects with management responsibility for deliverables and costs.
• Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager.
• Represent the Applied Engineering team in project meetings and check designs.
• Carry out civil/structural designs and act as checker on other designs.
• Undertaking site visits when appropriate.
• Collating feedback on solutions and contributing to lessons learned meetings.
• Preparing fully integrated permanent works proposals to meet bid and project delivery requirements.
• Managing the design work of staff and external designers.
• Mentoring staff including graduates within Applied Engineering.
• Work collaboratively with other Principal Engineers for department growth.
