Job summary

TechnipFMC plc is seeking a Principal Engineer – MV/HV Cable Design to act as the technical authority in our R&D team. You will lead the design, development and ongoing improvement of medium- and high-voltage submarine cable products for offshore wind and related systems.

You will guide technical standards, document requirements and collaborate with clients and suppliers to deliver robust solutions. This role requires Chartered Engineer status or the ability to achieve chartership and extensive

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering (Electrical/Mechanical preferred) or physics.
• Chartered Engineer status or ability to achieve chartership soon.
• Extensive HV submarine cable design experience in offshore wind/oil and gas.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in MV/HV submarine cable design within R&D.
• Lead and document R&D projects from concept to completion.
• Develop and apply cable design rules, standards, and documentation.
• Review design calculations and technical studies; assess products.
• Identify risks, review specs, resolve complex queries.
• Manage non-conformances and design-rule deviations.
• Collaborate with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
• Develop new technologies and tools to improve quality and efficiency.
• Mentor engineers and provide training.
• Support development of inter-array cable systems for floating wind.
