Job summary

Severn Trent in Derby is seeking a Principal Engineer (Design Services) to lead on technical aspects of waste infrastructure schemes, guiding design through the programme requirements and collaborating with framework designers. You’ll mentor teammates and uphold safety and sustainability across projects.

You’ll be degree qualified and consider Chartered status with Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Geotechnical experience in water/utility sectors, plus a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified and professional membership in an engineering Institution is expected.
• Experience in water/utility sector preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, write and manage service orders for design services to meet project requirements.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among sponsors, modellers, designers, planners and stakeholders.
• Guide the design process and ensure compliance with programme requirements and safety standards.
• Identify, assess, and manage risks throughout design, construction and operation.
• Engage internal stakeholders and supply chain to align projects and seek innovations to cut time and cost.
• Support governance through gated project reviews and provide recommendations.
