Job summary

Severn Trent Plc is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and technical delivery for major water infrastructure projects from feasibility through detailed design, construction support, and handover. This role is based at our Finham office in Coventry.

You will provide technical leadership across the project lifecycle, mentor engineers and designers, and ensure designs are safe, compliant, and operationally aligned.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or demonstrable progress toward chartership.
• Ample experience in water treatment and clean water infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of UK water treatment processes, assets and standards.
• Proven experience delivering outline and detailed mechanical design for complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering solutions for water treatment and clean water infrastructure projects.
• Act as mechanical engineering technical authority on assigned projects.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to engineers and designers.
• Promote engineering excellence and best practice throughout project delivery.
• Coordinate with Process, Civil, Structural, Electrical, ICA and Operations teams.
