Job description
Overview

How about a job that works for you? At Safeguard Global we’re all about making work fit your life, not the other way around. Our “work in any way” philosophy means tackling projects from the comfort of your couch, breaking up your day to run errands, or taking meetings from a cozy café in another country. You have the flexibility to balance productivity with life’s moments while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Own the Spend Analytics application end-to-end – from data modeling and pipelines through to dashboards and customer-facing analytics features.
  • Design and implement dbt models and data transformations that are reliable, well-tested, and aligned to domain-driven data contracts.
  • Shape and optimize AWS QuickSight assets (dashboards, datasets, KPIs, row-level security, etc.) to provide clear, performant, self‑service analytics for internal and external users.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Product to define event schemas, data contracts and interfaces between operational systems and the analytics layer.
  • Champion data quality and governance – define testing strategies (e.g. dbt tests), data validation and monitoring to ensure trust in Spend Analytics outputs.
  • Lead by example as a hands‑on technical leader – pairing, reviewing code, and setting engineering standards for the team.
  • Mentor and support a small team of engineers, helping them grow their skills in analytics engineering, data modeling, and BI tooling.
  • Translate business questions into technical solutions – partner with Finance, Revenue Operations and Customer Success to understand use cases and turn them into pragmatic, incremental deliverables.
  • Drive performance, security and scalability across the analytics stack, ensuring solutions are production‑grade and ready to scale with customer demand.
  • Contribute to our broader data and analytics strategy, sharing patterns and best practices with other teams and helping us build a consistent approach to data products.
  • Monitor delivery and platform health, report on key engineering metrics (reliability, performance, delivery throughput) and continuously improve ways of working.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience as a Senior/Principal Engineer working on data/analytics‑heavy products or BI platforms.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with AWS QuickSight (or similar BI tools) – including building complex dashboards, modeling datasets and implementing access controls.
  • Practical experience with dbt in production: data modeling, tests, documentation, macros, and CI/CD for analytics code.
  • Excellent SQL skills and solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (dimensional modeling, star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, etc.).
  • Experience with the AWS analytics stack (S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, Lake Formation or similar).
  • Background in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python for data and application development is a strong plus.
  • Proven track record of leading and mentoring engineers and setting technical direction for a product or platform.
  • Comfortable working closely with Finance / Revenue Operations stakeholders, translating financial or operational requirements into data models and metrics.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles, including code review, testing, CI/CD, observability and secure‑by‑design principles.
  • Experience designing and running self‑service analytics experiences for non‑technical users.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Benefits
  • Autonomy and flexibility – remote first with the ability to include life needs like school runs and gym breaks in your schedule.
  • Generous leave package including paid bonding leaves for new additions to your family.
  • Two paid charitable days off to contribute to causes you believe in.
  • Annual bonus scheme or sales incentive plan for all Guardians.
  • International environment – grow your network worldwide and collaborate across cultures.
  • Human‑centered culture with continuous learning support (two learning platforms).

At Safeguard Global we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and Guardians.
