Job summary

Hoare Lea is seeking a Principal or Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Bournemouth or Reading offices. You will lead day‑to‑day electrical design delivery for diverse projects and develop initial strategic concepts to meet briefs and standards.

Ideal candidates will have experience in commercial, residential, and mission‑critical sectors, with strong client liaison and mentoring skills. The role supports growth within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team and a people‑focused culture.

Qualifications

Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role delivering on a variety of complex projects.
Experience of modern technical delivery processes, and use of BIM tools such as Revit and Relux/Dialux.
Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors/architects in a design-oriented consultancy role.
Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity.

Responsibilities

Be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of the electrical design services for multi-disciplinary projects across a number of building sectors.
Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a communicative, collaborative and timely approach to delivery; this is a client-facing role with project meetings and briefing within the team.
Work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
Mentor and support our ‘next gen’ professionals, including apprentices and graduates.
