Principal Electrical Engineer - Power
Initial 6 Month Contract - 2 days per fortnight on site
£79.17 per hour (Inside IR35)
Typical duties include:
· Develop design solutions aligned with project milestones.
· Manage requirements and acceptance criteria for systems or products.
· Understand contractual and performance requirements, supporting design, build, and commissioning activities.
· Produce documentation for design review, including diagrams, specifications, calculations, and justifications.
· Ensure design evidence is comprehensive and endorsed.
· Ensure compliance with contractual, safety, environmental, and company standards.
· Conduct design reviews and presentations.
· Support performance and acceptance activities, including supplier documentation review.
· Assist in scope and resource estimation for bids and planning.
· Support Certificate of Design activities and present technical arguments clearly.
· Provide technical support during build, defect resolution, and change management.
Knowledge:
· Technical report writing skills.
· Experience in engineering lifecycle.
· Knowledge of defence standards (advantageous).
· Understanding of Power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, power electronics.
· In-depth knowledge of power systems modelling, generation, distribution, protection, operation, earth fault monitoring.
· Experience with industry codes and standards, submarine systems (preferred).
· Experience in complex design programmes and electrical power systems.
Skills:
· Technical reports and specifications.
· Functional system diagrams and safety justifications.
· Technical presentations and system analysis.
· Factory acceptance tests, equipment configuration, and testing.
Additional requirements:
Excellent team skills, self-motivation, fast learning, and ability to prioritize with minimal guidance.
