Job summary

Align Property Services, part of North Yorkshire Council, seeks a proactive Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer to lead electrical design and project delivery on a diverse range of buildings. You’ll conduct electrical surveys, drive concept-to-detail design, manage contracts and projects, and mentor junior staff, ensuring NEC/JCT compliance and high standards across disciplines.

This hybrid role offers £55,000–£60,000, 25 days holiday, a company pension, and professional development

Qualifications

• A degree or HNC in Building Services/Electrical Engineering.
• Substantial senior engineering experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, NBS and Microsoft Office.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the area.
• Experience with NEC/JCT contracts and NEC compliance.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations, fire safety and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Electrical condition surveys.
• Electrical design from concept to detail.
• Project management and contract administration.
• Providing early-stage design advice and technical consultancy.
• Managing complex workloads and promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Deliver smart, cost-effective solutions meeting client expectations.
• Advise on Health & Safety, fire safety and sustainability across design and construction.
