As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Principal Environmental Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. In our Environmental team, you'll help improve quality of life through your expertise in environmental management, technical skills, or sustainability. Your work might involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality, or noise, often in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.

We aim to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. The impacts of climate change, urbanization, and biodiversity loss are increasingly evident, and we are committed to addressing these challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leading the coordination and delivery of environmental work by multidisciplinary teams, influencing project development, and achieving optimal environmental outcomes.
  2. Ensuring your work and the work of others meet high standards of quality.
  3. Collaborating with the Impact Assessment Team across the UK.
  4. Managing projects or project components, including resource allocation, subcontractor management, and quality assurance.
  5. Supporting tender proposals and bids as part of a winning team.
  6. Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues.
  7. Engaging with stakeholders and consultees effectively.
  8. Developing comprehensive reports and explaining outcomes to non-technical audiences.
  9. Overseeing project performance concerning technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Strong knowledge of EIA practices, environmental principles, and technical specialisms.
  • Experience with various project types, including energy, residential, regeneration, and major infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to manage EIA screening, scoping, and Environmental Statements, including reviewing specialist chapters.

  • Commercial skills including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent; chartered status or working towards it preferred.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Desired: Experience with SEA and IIA projects, knowledge of sustainability, waste, or carbon assessments.
