Job summary

Jobtailor, a UK-based provider of legal services, seeks an experienced Education Lawyer to lead Education-related matters within the Local Authority's Legal Services remit. You will partner with Directors and Heads of Service to shape policy, advise schools, and guide strategic decisions.

In this role you will manage a small specialist team, ensure compliance and service improvement, and deliver a high-quality education legal service to public sector clients across education and governance

Qualifications

• Honours degree in a relevant discipline with admitted Solicitor or Barrister status (England and Wales) and current practicing certificate.
• Extensive experience in Education Law with understanding of Local Authority governance.
• Experience advising Local Authorities, Schools or Public Sector organisations on Employment Law.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Job description

• Act as the key partner and stakeholder for Education-related matters within the Legal Services function
• Manage a small specialist team
• Advise, influence, shape and challenge at senior levels
• Work collaboratively with Directors, Heads of Service, in-house services, schools and external stakeholders
• Ensure service improvement, ongoing compliance and delivery of strategic objectives
• Deliver an effective and specialist education legal service

Requirements

• Ideally have an honours degree in a relevant discipline alongside admitted Solicitor or Barrister status (England and Wales) with a current practicing certificate
• Excellent understanding and experience of operating within the legal frameworks and requirements of Local Authority governance
• Extensive previous professional experience within Education Law
• Excellent previous experience of advising Local Authorities, Schools or Public Sector organisations on Employment law matters
• Previous experience of leading, developing and motivating a professional team
• Demonstrative experience of being the driver of a high quality service provision
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders at all levels
