Job summary

Lancashire County Council seeks a senior Legal governance lead to drive and manage multiple legal teams across Adults, Education and People Services. You will partner with senior stakeholders, shape service governance strategy and ensure regulatory compliance remains at the forefront of delivery.

You should be an admitted Solicitor or Barrister with current practising certificate and demonstrable experience in local authority governance, agency oversight, and complex multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Honours degree in a relevant discipline.
• Admitted Solicitor or Barrister (England & Wales) with current practising certificate.
• Strong knowledge of local authority governance legal frameworks and requirements.
• Experience in one of Adult Social Care, Education, Employment or Schools Appeal.
• Experience managing a multi-disciplinary team.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality service provision.
• Excellent stakeholder communication at all levels.

• Lead, drive and directly manage a number of Legal teams within Lancashire County Council


• Act as key partner and stakeholder for Adults, Education and People Services


• Lead development and implementation and provide senior direction for service governance strategy


• Inform and guide service governance strategy


• Ensure the organisation operates correctly and remains compliant with legal and regulatory requirements


• Work with senior and statutory officers, elected members and political partners


• Lead on delivering effective governance

Requirements

• Ideally have an honours degree in a relevant discipline


• Admitted Solicitor or Barrister status (England and Wales) with a current practising certificate


• Excellent understanding of and experience of operating within the legal frameworks and requirements of Local Authority governance


• Previous direct experience and knowledge of one of the legal disciplines managed by the role: Adult Social Care, Education, Employment or Schools Appeal


• Previous experience of managing a multi-disciplined team


• Demonstrative experience of being the driver of a high quality service provision


• Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
