Job summary

Knapp AG in the United Kingdom is seeking a Principal Designer to coordinate UK projects in line with CDM Regulations 2015. This role requires high attention to detail, clear communication at all levels, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to integrate into a team.

Qualifications

• A history of working in complex Mechanical or Electrical Projects as either a project engineer or designer.
• Intralogistics engineering experience in warehousing for conveyors, cranes, shuttle systems, racking and mezzanine systems and robotics.
• Hold a design qualification, e.g. engineer or relevant experience preferably in construction/automation/intralogistics.
• Must have extensive experience and knowledge of construction design process and CDM PD experience (CDM 2015) and working as a Health & Safety Advisor within the construction industry/automation/intralogistics.
• Hold a NEBOSH Construction Certificate - valid within last 5 years or IOSH membership.
• IT literacy – MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the duties of the Principal Designer in line with CDM Regulations 2015.
• Engage with clients and designers to integrate health & safety/design risk management.
• Lead the design risk management process and apply prevention principles.
• Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety during pre-construction phase.
• Identify residual risks and life cycle considerations across projects.
• Issue project-specific pre-construction information for contractors.
• Health & Safety File compilation and documentation.
• Provide clear health and safety guidance to project teams.
• Manage multiple projects for key clients with senior management oversight.
• Read and understand client specs and environments to define requirements.
• Coordinate with sales engineering and project delivery teams as needed.
• Attend site visits and client/engineering meetings in the UK and at Head Office in Graz.
• Identify and mitigate risks with senior management.
