Turner & Townsend in Birmingham is seeking a Principal Designer to integrate health and safety considerations into design across the construction process. The successful candidate will lead design risk management and coordinate with architects, engineers and clients to ensure CDM compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Design Management, Construction Management or related built environment discipline.
• Experience in architectural practice, multidisciplinary consultancy or design-led construction.
• Demonstrable experience undertaking Principal Designer duties under CDM Regulations.
• Membership of APS and/or professional bodies (RIBA/CIAT/ARB/IOSH or equivalent).
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or willingness to obtain.
• Strong understanding of RIBA Plan of Work, design processes and risk management principles.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to plan and organise workload to meet deadlines.
• Extensive knowledge of construction industry and CDM Regulations.

Responsabilités

• Apply architectural and design experience to integrate health and safety throughout design and construction.
• Act as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations and help clients understand their duties.
• Review and coordinate design information to identify and reduce health and safety risks.
• Collaborate with architects, designers, engineers, contractors and clients on design risk management.
• Develop systems to improve CDM and H&S services' efficiency and effectiveness.
• Build relationships with clients, becoming a trusted advisor on design risk and compliance.
• Manage commissions where responsibility is assigned, delivering scope and client expectations.
• Carry out health and safety reviews, audits and inspections where required.
• Liaise with SHQ and Turner & Townsend colleagues to support team effectiveness and project profitability.
• Compile and review Pre-Construction Information, Design Risk Registers and Health & Safety Files.
