Job summary

Cloudflare’s Detection team is seeking a senior leader to design, evaluate, and scale advanced detection models for automated and malicious activity. You will mentor engineers and data scientists, shaping evaluation metrics and leading cross-functional collaboration with product and ML engineers.

You will drive the adoption of AI/ML techniques across the org, partnering with teams to align detection strategy with company priorities and to address high-velocity data and evolving threats.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of professional experience in Data Science, ML Engineering, or Software Engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in statistics, ML/AI methods, and large-scale data processing.
• Ability to make high-stakes technical decisions with incomplete information.
• Experience detecting fraud, abuse, or bots at high velocity.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, design, and evaluation of detection models for automated and malicious activity.
• Mentor teammates on pattern detection and behavioral analysis.
• Own the detection measurement framework, defining metrics and evaluation strategies.
• Drive AI/ML techniques adoption and liaise with ML/Engineers and Product.
• Shape long-term detection strategy across product areas.
