Job summary

Waracle is seeking a Principal Data & AI Consultant for a hybrid role based in Dundee, London, or Glasgow, with around 2 days in the office each week.

You will design data pipelines, governance, and scalable analytics solutions, while translating business challenges into technical roadmaps and leading cross-functional delivery of AI/ML initiatives across cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience designing data models, pipelines, and governance.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, PySpark; familiar with SSIS, Airflow, Spark, Databricks, Fabric.
• Cloud experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Understanding AI integration in data landscapes and MLOps.
• Experience guiding multi-squad deliveries and technical proposals.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines with governance, security, and compliance.

Principal Data & AI Consultant – Waracle is a digital technology consultancy. This Hybrid role is based at Dundee, London, or Glasgow, with around 2 days per week in office.

Key Aspects of the Role Include

• Architecture & Vision: Designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines using batch and streaming processing, championing data governance, security, privacy, and legislatory compliance.

• Acting as a Trusted Advisor: Translating complex business challenges into clear technical roadmaps, communicating with executive stakeholders and non-technical peers.

• Enabling Innovation: Designing usable data models and building reliable foundations that empower advanced analytics, LLMs, and AI/ML applications.

• Modernising Infrastructure: Overseeing the evolution of cloud data platforms to maximize performance, reduce latency, and optimize cloud costs across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Growth & Strategy: Contributing to Waracle's technical direction, shaping new business proposals, and nurturing deep client relationships.

• Empowering People: Fostering an inclusive environment through collaborative leadership, resolving organisational challenges, and mentoring colleagues.

What You'll Bring

• Core Data Engineering Foundation: Practical experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT, and various database technologies.

• Technical Versatility: Fluency in data processing languages (Python, SQL, PySpark) and openness to tech stacks such as SSIS, Airflow, Spark, Databricks, Fabric.

• Cloud Capability: Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and curiosity to learn others.
