Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Cyber Security Engineer to be part of our NBCU Consumer Product Security team. This Principal Cyber Security Engineer will partner with the Global Streaming Technology and Cyber Security organisations to ensure technology is designed and deployed securely and aligned with Cyber Security and enterprise technology strategies.

The successful candidate will be joining NBCUniversal at an exciting time as we evolve our process and services. The Principal Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for conducting end to end security and threat analysis of enterprise initiatives involving new or modified technology deployments; ensuring that they incorporate Information Security best practices and guidelines into system designs. This individual will function as a technical and engineering subject matter expert across various Cyber Security technology areas with a focus on network, application, cloud, and enterprise security controls. The analysis will involve collaboration across the Cyber organisation, partnership with business stakeholders, and will result in security guidance and/or mitigation requirements.

Finally, a successful candidate will effectively communicate the importance of key Cyber initiatives and services to obtain support, trust and buy-in from the business.

Qualifications

1. Extensive experience partnering with business and technical teams to architect and deliver Cyber solutions.
2. Extensive experience consulting with business teams regarding threat mitigation best practices in one or more technical areas (Perimeter Security, Application Security, Core Systems, EDR, Cloud etc...).
3. Deep understanding of Threat Modeling: ability to assess and manage security risk in large-scale systems, including streaming platforms, authentication systems, content delivery networks (CDN's) and user data protection.
4. Strong knowledge of security principles applied during the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and secure coding practices.
5. Experience in Consumer-Facing Applications: Direct experience with security products or services consumed by millions of users, particularly in streaming media, OTT platforms, or digital media services.
6. Detailed knowledge of common Cloud Services offered (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and the different potential risks posed by each.
7. Explain common threats to components including Network, Cloud, Web and Application environments.
8. Collaborate with other staff to ensure Cyber requirements are understood and clear during all phases of a project.
9. Knowledge of best practices in the Cyber Security industry, including remediations for OWASP Top 10, CWE/SANS Top 25, CIS Critical Security controls, and NIST Cloud Security guidelines.
10. Advanced technical knowledge in at least one of the above listed Cyber security areas, highlighting your ability to navigate complex challenges.
11. Give and receive constructive feedback in a team environment, fostering a culture of continual improvement and excellence.
12. Willingness to provide mentorship to all members of the team.
13. Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills tailoring to both technical and non-technical audiences.
14. Experience developing and documenting security guidelines, security best practices, and reference architectures.
15. Experience creating architecture diagrams communicating secure designs and controls.
16. Excellent time management skills to appropriately prioritise multiple concurrent projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Formal Degree is not required, relevant experience in the above mentioned areas prioritised.
2. Understanding of various data and privacy regulations, including PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA.
3. A firm understanding of Cybersecurity Engineering/Operations, Incident Response, and GRC functions.
4. Empathy for engineering teams with the ability to balance security guidelines and policies with operational needs to maintain desired end-state corporate security posture.
