Job summary

Siemens Energy Lincolnshire division seeks a Principal Controls Design Engineer to lead the design of electrical control systems for industrial automation projects. Qualifications

• HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Eng., Automation Eng. or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical control panel design or controls hardware engineering.
• Proficient in producing electrical schematic drawings; familiar with PLC-based control systems, MCCs and VSDs.
• Knowledge of electrical design standards/regulations; interpret customer specs and technical docs.
• Experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical; familiarity with PLC platforms like Siemens TIA Portal and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix.

How You'll Make an Impact

• You will design electrical control systems tailored for industrial automation and process control applications.
• Produce detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar CAD software.
• Create comprehensive documentation, including control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Ensure compliance with IEC, BS EN, and relevant international standards, conducting design reviews and implementing corrective actions as needed.

What You Bring

• You hold an HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• With a minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical control panel design or controls hardware engineering, you have a solid understanding of industrial automation systems.
• Proficient in producing electrical schematic drawings, you are familiar with PLC-based control systems, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
• You possess knowledge of electrical design standards and regulations, along with the ability to interpret customer specifications and technical documents.
• Experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical is a plus, as is familiarity with PLC platforms like Siemens TIA Portal and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix.
