Job summary

Morson Edge in Devonport is seeking a Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of civil and structural subway systems.

You will shape refurbishment designs, develop new solutions, and guide a design team through the lifecycle, coordinating with utilities and stakeholders to meet safety, regulatory and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and chartered status or working towards chartered status.
• Experience leading complex civil/structural design in regulated environments.
• Ability to manage design lifecycle, change control and interfaces across disciplines.
• Proven ability to provide expert guidance to design houses and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of health & safety, quality requirements and regulatory standards.

12 Month Contract

£71 - £80 per hour umbrella (Inside IR35)

Job Role

We are looking for a Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to support delivery of civil / structural subway systems as part of the subways team in Devonport.

Lead on the Structural / Civil works required for:

• Refurbishment design proposals for the existing extant subways within the 10D site.
• Development of new / alternative designs.
• Lead the design team with assessing the findings of recent condition surveys, within the extant subways, and develop a strategy / design for the remediation of these subways. This will need to be coordinated with existing utilities and proposed to ensure that all design requirements are met

Day-to-day, you'll be supporting the engineering capability of the new systems through the design lifecycle in accordance with the design process.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage one or more technical design packages ensuring requirements are met through the design process

Key Skills and Experience

• Design of high complex services subways / routes preferably in a Nuclear/ Regulated environment
• Regulations, legislation and standards that are applicable to civil / structural design and construction (including Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM)
• Substantiation of SFR's when identified within systems to support the nuclear safety case
• Able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in the technical management of complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
• Provide expert advice to the sub-contracted design houses to enable them to develop the design.
• Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements.
• Experience of working in BIM environments.
• Awareness of project planning, project management and budgeting.
• Sound understanding of company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety and Quality requirements and ability to manage projects in accordance with these procedures.
• Collaborate with other design houses regarding the proposed works and the required changes to the subways to facilitate their designs.
• Support development and lead implementation of assurance and governance activities for subway remedial works and new design development

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with membership of an accredited body (i.e. ICE) or working towards chartered status. Or significant experience
