J Murphy & Sons is recruiting a Principal Civil/Structural Design Engineer to lead permanent works design for water infrastructure across the UK. Based from Stone Cross or nearby offices, you will integrate design and construction within Murphy’s self-delivery model, delivering buildable, sustainable solutions.

You will oversee complex projects, mentor graduates and staff, and drive technical excellence across the Applied Engineering team while working with clients like UU, Severn Trent Water,

Qualifikationen

• HND/Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Designer capable of managing projects from design and cost perspectives.
• Experience in financial management and cost control.
• Strong analysis and design skills for complex structures.
• Open-minded problem solver for civil/structural challenges.
• Chartered with ICE and/or IStructE preferred.

Aufgaben

• Be the single point of contact for multiple projects with management of deliverables and costs.
• Report to the Senior Engineering Manager.
• Represent Applied Engineering in project team meetings and perform civil/structural design checks.
• Carry out site visits when appropriate.
• Gather feedback and contribute to lessons learned.
• Prepare fully integrated permanent works proposals to meet bid and delivery requirements.
• Manage design work of staff and external designers.
• Mentor staff at all levels within Applied Engineering.
• Collaborate with other Principal Engineers for department growth.
