Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to expand our Renewables & Transmission & Distribution teams. You will work across onshore wind, hydro, grid infrastructure, and BESS projects, taking projects from feasibility to construction oversight.

The role offers a hybrid working model with offices across the UK. You will lead multi-disciplinary design teams, liaise with clients, and mentor junior staff while delivering high-quality civil infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering
Chartered status or actively working towards chartership
Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects in Energy Transition
Experience in UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11KV–400KV)
Strong technical competency in civil/structural design
Proven report writing and organisational skills
Familiarity with NGTS or National Grid CDAE status is a plus

Responsibilities

Act as lead verifier on technical feasibility studies and design reports
Liaise with clients and manage day-to-day project work within timescales and budgets
Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams
Lead design of civil infrastructure including roads, drainage and external works
Prepare and review calculations and detailed design drawings per UK standards
Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries
Produce high-quality feasibility, inspection and design reports
Mentor junior staff and support career development
