Job summary

Thomas Gray Ltd. is seeking a Senior/Principal Engineer to lead technical delivery on complex civil infrastructure projects. The role involves mentoring junior staff and acting as the principal client-facing engineering lead across key developments.

You will design highways, junctions and drainage solutions, manage submissions under S38/S278/S104/S185, and coordinate with clients and authorities to ensure robust technical outcomes.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng) or equivalent qualification.
Chartered or Incorporated status (CEng/IEng with ICE or CIHT) or actively working towards accreditation.
Proven track record in a UK civil engineering consultancy environment.
Strong design and technical delivery capability on highways, junctions and drainage.

Responsibilities

Lead technical delivery and detailed design of civil schemes, focusing on highways, infrastructure and drainage (SuDS).
Act as the main technical contact for clients, authorities, bodies and main contractors.
Manage section submissions and approvals (S38, S278, S104, S185).
Mentor and review work of graduate and junior engineers.
Conduct site walkovers, technical appraisals and feasibility assessments.
Support project financials, fee proposals and project management tracking.
