Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead civil, structural and architectural design within regulated environments across the UK. The role involves guiding engineers, coordinating with Delivery Partners, and delivering compliant solutions that meet safety and regulatory standards.

Hybrid working is available across our UK network, including Stockton, Newcastle, Bristol, Gloucester, Glasgow, Westlakes and Warrington.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering civil, structural and architectural design within a regulated environment.
• Proven ability to guide technical personnel and influence professional engineers.
• Experience working with delivery partners and managing interfaces to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of CS&A engineers and architects to deliver safe, compliant designs.
• Deliver civil, structural and architectural design across projects.
• Manage interfaces with Delivery Partners and the design team.
• Identify risks with proposed resolutions and ensure milestones are met.
• Develop deliverables (drawings, specifications, reports, BIM) and maintain schedules.

Due to continued growth are currently seeking Principal Civil Engineers to join our team, these positions support hybrid working and can be based across our office network within the UK - Stockton, Newcastle, Bristol, Gloucester, Glasgow, Westlakes and Warrington.

As a Principal Civil Engineer your responsibilities could include:

• Leading a team of CS&A engineers and architects in the definition, implementation and delivery of specified functional works that achieves safety, functional and business requirements.
• Key role holder within the Engineering team on the project.
• Delivery of the civil, structural, and architectural design.
• Manage the interface to and between key Delivery Partners and the design team.
• Understanding of the commercial implications of products, scope and packages
• Delivery of substantiation and other approvals.
• Risk identification with proposed resolution / mitigation.
• Production of Schedule and identification of key milestones.
• Develop deliverables list and format (drawings, specifications, reports, BIM etc.)

Here's What You'll Need:

• Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or equivalent) subject- MEng (preferred)
• Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership- Chartered Engineer
• Background engineering experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent positions influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel
• Experience of working within a regulated and quality assured system (preferably nuclear) in roles where professional judgement is the key attribute
