Job description

My client, operating within the Civil and Structural Engineering sector, is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer for their office in Hemel Hempstead. This reputable consultancy offers flexible working hours, hybrid working options, training, support, and an excellent benefits package.

Role Overview

The Principal Civil Engineer will join an award-winning consultancy in a growth stage, providing an opportunity to leverage business acumen to further expand the company.

The successful candidate will be part of an established team involved in site appraisals, feasibility studies, pre-application planning advice, technical support for planning applications, and the approval of reserved matters. Responsibilities also include producing pre-planning reports such as Flood Risk Assessments, Foul Drainage & Utility Assessments, and preparing detailed design information for construction.

Job Requirements

1. BSc or BEng qualification in Civil Engineering
2. Minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering design
3. Chartered or working towards Chartership
4. Expertise in infrastructure, highways, and drainage design for multi-disciplinary projects
5. Experience managing projects from concept to construction
6. Knowledge of adoption agreements for roads and drainage
7. Proficiency with industry-standard design software
8. Experience liaising with clients and professional teams
9. Effective communication skills, including writing clear reports and correspondence
10. Commercial awareness and experience managing project finances
