Job summary

Remitly is seeking a Principal Software Engineer / Principal AI Engineer to lead embedded AI initiatives and own the end-to-end technical stack from discovery to production. You will shape agentic AI patterns, oversee integration work, and mentor engineers across squads.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, define requirements, and drive architecture decisions while ensuring security and data governance across enterprise systems. This role demands strong leadership and hands-on delivery.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with hands-on AI system design
• BS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent; advanced degree preferred
• LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, and production guardrails for enterprise scale
• Experience integrating AI into enterprise systems via APIs and data pipelines
• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) including managed AI/ML services
• Delivery mindset: Agile, CI/CD, modern SDLC and TDD
• Proven ability to move pilots to production rápidamente with measurable outcomes
• Strong communication and influence with senior stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Own technical execution from discovery to production for embedded squads
• Design and govern reusable agentic AI patterns (orchestration, memory, retrieval)
• Ensure delivery meets security, data governance and residency standards
• Codify validated solutions into patterns, references, and starter kits
• Provide design input and finalise requirements with host function stakeholders
• Write specifications, fix complex bugs, and model complex data relationships
• Mentor engineers and elevate the team's capabilities
• Establish baselines and measure outcomes for initiatives
• Maintain visibility of in-flight pilots to surface reuse candidates
• Align with central technology infrastructure and security standards
