Job summary

RELX is hiring a Principal Software Engineer / Principal AI Engineer in the UK. You will be the technical lead for embedded Innovation Squads, shaping AI architecture, orchestration, and scalable patterns from discovery to production.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive secure, compliant AI delivery across segments. You will own complex data models, leverage cloud platforms, and advance agentic AI capabilities while maintaining alignment with enterprise standards

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering with hands‑on AI system design.
• BS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
• Agentic AI / LLM orchestration, prompt engineering and RAG at enterprise scale.
• Enterprise integration via APIs and data pipelines with strong security practices.
• Cloud experience with AWS, Azure or GCP and managed AI/ML services.

Responsibilities

• Own technical execution from discovery to production; prototype and PoC work.
• Design reusable agentic AI patterns (orchestration, memory, retrieval).
• Ensure delivery aligns with architecture, security and data governance standards.
• Codify solutions into patterns, reference implementations and starter kits.
• Mentor engineers and drive collaboration with stakeholders in host function.
