Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Principal Engineer to own and shape core platform domains for agent identity, access control, and secrets management. You will design secure, scalable architectures across services, mentor engineers, and drive end-to-end delivery in a fast‑moving AI/security environment.

You will work on a foundational platform, writing critical code, and influencing cross‑team decisions while upholding high standards for security and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend and systems experience in large-scale or security-critical systems.
• Designed and operated distributed, cloud-based architectures that are secure, scalable, and reliable.
• Experience with identity, authentication, authorization, and secrets management.
• Thrives in ambiguity and guides others through complex tradeoffs.
• Clear communication and ability to mentor engineers across functions.

Responsibilities

• Own and guide the technical direction of core platform domains like agent identity, authentication, authorization, and secrets management.
• Shape architectures spanning multiple services and teams with emphasis on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Lead by example with high-impact implementation and mentorship.
• Identify critical technical gaps and drive solutions from concept to delivery.
• Document decisions and promote engineering best practices across the platform.
