Job summary

Citi is seeking a hands-on engineer to lead and deliver core Prime Brokerage components using Kotlin/Java, shaping technical direction and ownership. You will collaborate with stakeholders, drive planning and estimation, and stay hands-on to push changes into production.

The role emphasizes high engineering standards, shift-left testing, security, observability, and mentoring engineers while improving SDLC and DevOps practices within a hybrid London workplace.

Responsibilities

• Own, design, and build core Prime Brokerage components in Kotlin/Java.
• Translate complex business requirements into clear technical direction.
• Lead planning and estimation with technical teams and stakeholders.
• Stay hands-on and contribute changes delivered to production.
• Raise engineering standards: testing, resiliency, security, observability.
• Provide technical leadership to agile teams and mentor developers.
• Drive SDLC and DevOps improvements using metrics like DORA.
• Identify and remove friction in development processes.
• Adopt AI engineering tooling integrated into production workflows.
• Own production stability end-to-end and drive remediation.
• Invest in people and culture; contribute to hiring.
• Keep project documentation clear, current, and useful.
