Job summary

REESON Education is assisting a Brent primary school in finding a General Teaching Assistant to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. The role involves classroom and behaviour support, working with teachers to maintain a positive learning environment and delivering targeted literacy and numeracy activities.

The position requires adaptability across key stages, reliability, and a proactive approach. A paid trial period begins on October 12th, with opportunities to contribute across the school

Qualifications

• Confident, patient, resilient and proactive.
• Experienced working with primary-aged children, ideally across more than one Key Stage.
• Comfortable supporting pupils who may display challenging or disruptive behaviour.
• Able to remain calm and consistent when dealing with difficult situations.
• Confident setting boundaries while building positive relationships with children.
• Able to support literacy, numeracy and general classroom learning.
• Flexible and comfortable moving between EYFS, KS1 and KS2 where required.
• A strong team player who can follow guidance from teachers and senior staff.
• Reliable, enthusiastic and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life.
• Passionate about helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide general classroom support across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
• Work with pupils individually, in small groups and within the wider classroom.
• Support teachers with classroom management and help maintain a calm, positive learning environment.
• Provide additional support to pupils who may struggle with behaviour, concentration or engagement.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to help pupils manage emotions, follow routines and make appropriate choices.
• Build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
• Support children with literacy, numeracy, phonics and other curriculum activities.
• Deliver small-group interventions and targeted learning activities under the direction of the class teacher.
• Encourage pupils to become more independent and confident in their learning.
• Support children during transitions, breaktimes and other parts of the school day where required.Help prepare classroom resources and ensure learning activities are ready for pupils.
• Work closely with teachers and support staff to monitor pupil progress, behaviour and engagement.
