Job summary

Christ Church CE Primary School - Lichfield is seeking a teaching assistant to support children with additional needs. The role involves working with individuals and groups, contributing to a personalised curriculum and helping pupils access the national curriculum.

You will join a supportive team, with emphasis on creating a calm, positive learning environment and opportunities for professional development. The position is 27.5 hours per week and based in Lichfield.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a primary school.
• Knowledge of the primary school curriculum.
• Good understanding of supporting behaviour in a nurturing environment.
• Ability to work with individuals and small groups with additional needs.
• Ability to work in whole class or smaller groups.
• Good interpersonal skills and flexible, creative approach.
• Understanding of trauma and attachment needs and impact on learning.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with a personalised curriculum including sensory and play-based learning to meet complex emotional needs.
• Working with pupil on individual, group or class basis as required by the class teacher.
• Supporting in the classroom with other pupils when additional needs pupils don’t require support.
• Assisting in offsite visits e.g. class trips.
• Aiding pupils to access the national curriculum with adaptations where required.
• Encouraging pupils to behave well in and around school.
• Supporting children at lunchtime with appropriate supervision.
