Job summary

Mainstream Primary School in Skelmersdale (WN8) is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 from September 2026. The fixed-term contract runs for the full academic year during term time only.

You will work with class teachers to support learning, assist small groups, monitor progress and help foster an inclusive classroom environment. Experience in UK schools is essential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) as essential
• Experience in a UK mainstream classroom is essential
• Patience, positivity and a nurturing approach to support learning and behaviour
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Responsibilities

• Support pupils' learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
• Assist class teachers with delivery of lessons and activities
• Provide individual or small group support tailored to pupils’ needs
• Encourage positive behaviour and build relationships with pupils
• Help monitor and report on pupil progress and engagement
• Support a calm, inclusive learning environment
