Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Part Time Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Skelmersdale (WN8). The role is fixed-term for the full academic year, 16–20 hours per week during term time, with weekly pay at £14.25–£16 per hour. Start date is September 2026.

You will support pupils across EYFS to KS2, assist teachers, and provide targeted help in groups or one-to-one. Knowledge of safeguarding and a Level 2 TA qualification are essential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – training available for anyone without this qualification.
• Experience working in a UK mainstream classroom environment.
• Patience, positivity, and a nurturing approach to support learning and behaviour.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils’ learning across a range of curriculum areas in EYFS, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.
• Assist class teachers with the delivery of lessons and learning activities.
• Provide individual or small group support tailored to pupils’ needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and build positive relationships with pupils.
• Help monitor and report on pupil progress and engagement.
• Support a calm, purposeful, and inclusive learning environment.
