Job summary

Applebough Recruitment Ltd is recruiting qualified Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Opportunities cover EYFS through to KS2, with five-day availability preferred.

Ideal candidates will hold a Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification, have strong phonics knowledge and be confident supporting children's learning in a primary setting. DBS clearance or willingness to obtain it is required.

Qualifications

• Recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of phonics and ability to support phonics teaching.
• Previous experience working within a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2.
• Confidence supporting literacy, numeracy and general classroom activities.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to provide one-to-one and small-group support.
• Positive, patient and proactive approach to supporting children's learning.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain the check.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Assist with phonics, reading, writing and numeracy activities.
• Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions where required.
• Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
• Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain an inclusive learning environment.
• Support children with additional learning needs.
• Follow all school policies and safeguarding procedures.
