Job summary

Mendip Green Primary School in Weston-super-Mare seeks a dedicated teaching assistant to support teachers and pupils across the primary age range. The role involves academic and pastoral support, helping children learn, grow and participate actively in lessons.

The post requires a Level 3 TA qualification or NVQ/VRQ Level 3, GCSEs including English and Maths, and strong communication with staff, pupils and families. Term-time hours apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above), including English and Mathematics.
• Experience in a school, educational, childcare or youth support setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification, NVQ/VRQ Level 3, or an equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging lessons.
• Work with individual pupils, small intervention groups, and whole classes.
• Deliver targeted learning support to help pupils achieve academic goals.
• Assist with classroom behaviour management and pupil engagement.
• Prepare educational resources and learning materials.
• Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote safeguarding, inclusion, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
• Help create a safe, stimulating and inspiring learning environment.
• Provide classroom cover and supervise learning when required in the teacher's absence.
