Long Term Futures is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Kingston / Surbiton area of South West London. This full-time, long-term position focuses on supporting pupils with SEN to access learning and build independence.

The role involves targeted 1:1 and small-group support across the primary age range, with CPD opportunities and a pathway to potential permanent placement.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN/SEND is essential.
  • Experience as SEN TA, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant or similar.
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and/or communication needs.
  • Confident providing dedicated 1:1 support.
  • Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, visual supports or SALT strategies is desirable.
  • Calm and consistent when supporting children who may become dysregulated.
  • Patient, proactive and able to adapt your approach to individual pupils.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Reliable and committed to a full-time, long-term placement.
  • Able to commute reliably to the Kingston / Surbiton area.

  • Use positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies where appropriate
  • Encourage independence rather than creating reliance on adult support
  • Record progress and communicate effectively with teachers and the wider SEN team

Location: Kingston / Surbiton, South West London
Pay: £110–£125 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Long-term temporary with potential to become permanent

Long Term Futures is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Kingston / Surbiton area of South West London.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children who need additional support to access learning, manage emotions and build confidence within school. You'll be joining an established team where SEN support is focused on helping pupils make meaningful progress while developing greater independence.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
