Job summary

SMART Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role in West Bromwich. You will support pupils across the primary age range, work closely with the class teacher, and deliver 1:1 or small group interventions, including SEND pupils.

Qualifications

• Previous school-based Teaching Assistant experience is essential.
• Minimum of 6 months in an education setting required.
• Experience with primary-aged children.
• SEND or 1:1 support experience especially beneficial.
• Confident supporting individuals, groups, and whole-class tasks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, proactive and positive approach.
• Strong ability to build relationships with pupils and staff.
• Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• References covering the last 24 months required.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
• Offer 1:1 and small-group support, including SEND pupils.
• Adapt resources and activities to match individual pupil needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence and social skills.
• Help with literacy and numeracy across the curriculum.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe classroom.
