Job summary

Ormston School in Headingley, Leeds, is seeking a dedicated Primary SEND Teacher to support pupils aged 5–18. The role involves small groups of up to six, with a Teaching Assistant, and delivery of the primary curriculum with tailored lessons.

The successful candidate will hold QTS and a relevant degree, with experience in primary teaching, strong knowledge of the National Curriculum, and ICT skills. DBS check required and Polaris Education will cover costs.

Qualifications

• QTS and a relevant degree are required.
• Successful classroom teaching experience, particularly with primary-age pupils.
• Solid understanding of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
• Ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
• Strong relationship-building skills with pupils and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Teach the primary curriculum to small class groups of up to six pupils, supported by a Teaching Assistant.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual needs and abilities.
• Assess, monitor, and report on learning needs, progress, and achievements.
• Set high standards that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
• Demonstrate secure subject knowledge and adapt teaching methods to diverse learning needs.
