Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is recruiting a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant for an alternative provision school in Nottingham. The role supports primary pupils with SEN, helping them access learning and build confidence, independence and social skills. A patient, calm approach is essential in a setting with varied challenging behaviours.

Candidates must have at least 3 months’ SEN experience and will be DBS checked. Connex offers flexible working, paid weekly, and dedicated professional support.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months’ experience working with children with SEN in education or care setting.
• Willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check if eligible.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to primary-aged pupils with SEN.
• Supporting teachers in delivering engaging, accessible, and inclusive learning activities.
• Helping pupils develop communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence.
• Adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual needs and abilities.
• Supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, or sensory challenges.
• Using positive behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement and positive outcomes.
• Helping to create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
• Encouraging pupils to build confidence, relationships, and participate in classroom activities.
• Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals to support individual pupil needs.
• Following safeguarding procedures and school policies.
