Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant (SEMH) at a Good Ofsted SEN school in Southampton. The role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH needs in a nurturing, trauma-informed environment, building trusting relationships and helping with emotional regulation.

Working hours are 08:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with a long-term/permanent contract and temp-to-perm potential. Ideal candidates have experience with young people, autism or related needs, and GCSEs in English

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, attachment needs or other additional needs.
  • Experience working within a Primary, SEN, or EYFS setting.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships and support pupils who may present with emotional, behavioural or communication difficulties.
  • Calm, nurturing and consistent approach to support emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external professionals.
  • Patient, resilient and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.
