Job description

Job Title:

Teacher of Key Stage 1 with some Key Stage 2 commitments.

Salary:

£28,000.00 per annum

Hours:

8.30 am to 4.00 pm – Monday to Friday - Fulltime

Holidays:

14 weeks paid holiday per annum.

Job Purpose:

To teach all subjects of the national curriculum and extracurricular activities, fulfilling professional duties as required, in accordance with school policies under the principal's guidance.

Key Duties:
  • Teach pupils of all abilities, including those with additional needs, by planning lessons to promote progression of learning.
  • Identify clear teaching objectives, specify teaching and assessment methods.
  • Set engaging tasks that challenge pupils and maintain high interest levels.
  • Differentiate instruction to set appropriate expectations for all abilities.
  • Establish clear targets based on prior attainment.
  • Develop skills in creating and working with provision maps for pupils with additional needs.
  • Lead annual Educational Health Care Plan reviews.
  • Work with gifted pupils and recognize individual talents through innovative teaching.
  • Provide structured lessons that maintain pace, motivation, and challenge.
  • Use assessment effectively to cover the curriculum and ensure coverage of programs of study.
  • Maintain discipline according to school procedures, encouraging punctuality, good behavior, and homework completion.
  • Employ a variety of teaching methods, including effective questioning, resource selection, and developing study skills.
  • Possess good IT skills.
  • Ensure pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills, and understanding.
  • Accept constructive feedback to improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Deploy classroom support efficiently, developing foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Encourage independent thinking, self-control, and listening skills.
  • Use planned interventions, experiential learning, and play to facilitate learning.
  • Develop rapport with pupils with additional needs, using humor, clear boundaries, and patience.
  • Handle physical challenges of the job appropriately.
  • Teach small classes, including pupils with additional needs, using resources to enhance understanding.
  • Work alongside mentors to support pupils effectively.
  • Plan and deliver lessons based on the UK curriculum.
  • Participate in statutory and online CPD training.
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting:
  • Evaluate learning objectives' achievement and use insights to improve teaching.
  • Mark and monitor pupils' work, setting progress targets.
  • Record and assess pupils’ progress systematically.
  • Prepare reports for parents and participate in school events.
Curriculum Development:
  • Take responsibility for primary subjects and contribute to school development plans.
  • Assist in achieving clear targets and success criteria.
