Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Read Write Inc phonics and Maths with Power Maths desirable.
• Experience across Key Stage One and Two, 1-1 and small group teaching and intervention support valuable.

Responsibilities

• Understand how children develop, how they learn and what motivates them.
• Support children's literacy and numeracy, and use secure subject knowledge to teach new concepts as agreed with the class teacher.
• Work confidently with individuals and groups — reinforcing teaching points, clearing up misunderstandings and sorting out misconceptions.
• Assess children's understanding of reading and maths, discuss their grasp of learning objectives, and extend their thinking.
• Support children with Special Educational Needs, liaising with the SENCO and outside agencies as needed.
• Encourage good social skills, model acceptable behaviour, and suggest ways of developing learning.
• Take an active part in planning and deliver high-quality lessons.
• Bring a calm, empathetic and adaptable approach — with initiative, confidentiality, a good sense of humour and enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to working as part of a team.
• Build trusting, positive relationships with children, families, staff, governors and external partners.
